Second Stage: Phone Interview

Moshi Moshi.

Congrats for making it to the second stage! (If not yet just say amen to it ;) )
So if u pass the online assessment, SC Scholarship will send u an update email in a week time if i'm not mistaken. Next, we will have to through a phone interview with SC which prior to it we will have to email/call them to inform our free times that we're able to spend for the interview. Make sure u give them few alternative times and reply as soon as possible so they can reserve the time for u. :)

Tips & What to expect?

Basically phone interview is more like a screening process where they will filter out the applicants before having them come for real interviews, usually conducted by the company's HR themselves. So we'll really have to observe our tones of speaking as they cannot see us on the other side, so make sure u sound real and confident. ;)

So naturally after the email, i googled what to prepare for the phone interview and this is the summary of my findings:

1. Make your research.
Company background research is very essential if we're having any interview with them. Basically just know what are their policy, functions, they basic infos and even who's the current Chairman/ CEO. Make also the research on the departments they have and which one that u hope to serve, targeting for one departments is better as it gives the impression that we're flexible to go with any departments without only confining ourselves to one thing (SC likes flexibility). Make some notes on the research so we can read them and familiarize ourselves with it because we dont wanna sound like reading while answering the phone interview hehe.

2.Write down the most common asked questions and answer them in your notes.
What i did for myself was i wrote down the questions i found online, and also questions from my friend who had experienced phone iv before (thank u imtiyaz & kak chap). I answer those questions with answer points in my notes. I guessed that was what really helped me when i was panicking for my phone interview when i felt so clumsy and serabut, i just flipped the page, scanned the points and answer the questions. You can use notes u know, u'll not get the chance in real-life interview haha so let's make the most out of it.  ;'')

3.Elaborate the answers.
Well, of course we dont wanna give a one sentenced answer for all the questions even when they asked they simplest questions. The interviewer will actually let us talk and wont interrupt us until we finished answering. So just go all out for it, but make sure u dont go to far or too long because that wont be nice also hoho.

4.Relate everything with SC hahaha.
Idk why i think this is funny but i read about this tips and actually think it helped. For example:
-...... which i believe these qualities i possessed are what/in-line with what SC want in their scholars which are students who have good leadership skills and strong academic performance.
-(how u see urself in 5 years) ........ and if i got the chance to serve SC in the future insyaAllah,  i would be honored if i can serve in the .... Deptartment or even .... as that's where and what i believe i can contribute best to SC.
(i know it sounds like 'bajet' but why not? because that's how i see myself in 5 years :) )

5.Treat the interview like a conversation.
Engage with the interviewer, they can hear u know if we are reading or scared etc. So treat it like they are in front of us, like talking to someone, but in a formal manner. Emphasize on the points that we want them to know about us. Dont be overconfident but also just layout the points for and-this-is-why-u-should-choose-me hahah.

6. Practice!
Make a mock phone interview with urself or get a friend to help even once or twice (the more the better). I sure guaranteed it can help u with the flow of answering the interview. Trust me hehe.

My Experience:
I was kinda free that week because a lot of my classes got cancelled were already informed a week earlier.. so everyday during the time i expected them to call me i'll sit at my study table in my room, with no one inside my room but it was already Thursday but they didn't call me yettt hahahaha i was so scared they missed my name or i gave the wrong phone number. I couldn't even go anywhere because i'm scared they'll call me when i don't have my notes. :'') Even on the Friday (last day),, until the lunch time,, i still haven't gotten the call T^T, i made up my mind if it's already 3.30pm, i'm going to call them straightaway haha.

On that particular Friday, i happened to have two submissions to pass up and they were some probs during the compilations of my group mates works so i was editing and finishing them during the lunch break at the campus's surau.. so, it was at 2.30pm when i got the chance to perform the Zuhr prayer... and guess what... yes guys... yes... they called in when i was praying T^T! luckily i was already in my final rakaat, so i speed the things up, baca wajib je :3, and run to my bag, panicked-ly search for my notes, i was so scared i missed the call, (they already inform earlier that they'll only call twice, so if we don't pick it up= bye2 scholarship).

There were some people in the surau,, they were all quiet, i'm still in my telekung,, almost cried searching for a comf. spot so i can "brag & promote"  my achievements, and everything.. in english.. it was so embarassing, when i picked up the phone i couldn't catch my breath,, i choked a few times as i was answering the call... i felt like it went so bad but i tried to answer with my best..
The conversation lasted about 15 minutes... felt like forever for me.. ;_;

U know what, i cried after that, hahahaha, i went to my bestfriend, Syazalia's room,, wake her up just to tell her about it.. after that the tears just couldn't stop flowing.. it was because i thought i could have done it better if i was not at the surau.. i felt like i wasted my one in a million chance so i couldn't stop crying afterwards haha probably because i want one so bad and this is the one and only chance i got.. even writing this made me all-teary haha..

However, Alhamdullah i got an email about a week later informing i was eligible for the next round.. i was very thankful at that time that God gave me another chance to continue my journey and i was all out again for it after that. :'')

Hehe, so i guess that is all i have to share for the phone interview stage.  Remember to take a deep breath and stay calm hehehe. :"")

Wishing u the best for this stage! <3

First Stage: Online Assessment

Hi, welcome to the first part of the SC Scholarship Interview Stages.

So basically if u made it through the application process (and congrats if u do!), SC Scholarship Team will send u an email informing on this matter. The first stage will be to complete a general intelligence test. Don't worry they will attach all the info related and also the sample questions and how to answer them so we'll know the pattern and are able to make some practice first before actually answering the questions. We have to answer this test as a pre-requisite. This assessment is designed to help assess our learning ability in picking up and retaining new skills.

Tips:

1. Do as much practice as u can, even using the same easy sample questions.
When i flopped my Yayasan Khazanah fricking-hard-i-almost-cried-test, i made up my mind if i ever get the chance again i'll practice first no matter how easy it might seems. (I swear Khazanah's test only wants geniuses and i'm no genius i'm just a a "hard-working" person hhuhuhu).
So i tried doing the samples over and over again and even make my own questions based on that pattern, which really helps a lot.

2. Make sure u're in a quiet surrounding with good internet connection. They'll give us some time to finish the test, so find the spot we're comfortable to do it.. it'll definitely affect our performance.

3. Use a mouse! hahaha, if u're using laptop to complete the test, go get a mouse! it'll be a big help as this test evaluates our speed and accuracy in answering those questions. (maybe because i personally think that mouse will be better to click move the pointer faster and more accurate hehe) But it's up to ur preference. :) *Tq Khadijah Hanani for lending me ur mouse, much love. <3

4. Do it by yourself. Be honest,, no good comes out if u cheats, u might have steal the chance of someone more qualified. I know u can do it, ganbate kudasaiii!!

4. Relax,, take a deep breath before starting, drink some water and go to toilet first if u need. And also make some prayers before that, may God help to ease ur test. :)

I guess that's all i have to say for my experience and tips for this stage, hope this can help ur preparation. Goodluck! <3

Securities Commission Scholarship 2018 Interview - Experience and Tips

Hi, greetings everyone. ^_^

So, for this entry I'm going to recap my experiences throughout the whole interview process and you can click the link for each stages for more details and tips. I've been planning to write this since the first stage as they are no recent blog post on this matter. I started writing this after the third stage but probably release this much later, hopefully before next application opened hehe. >_<

Friendly reminder this is my personal experiences and point of views, there might be mistakes and might not contain the contents you expected but I sure certainly hope this will help you guys out in the future. I just thought to be able to go this extend was not easy so I might have done something right and I am glad to share it with you guys hehe. :)

Before i begin, for your information, Securities Commission Scholarship is one of the most prestigious scholarships in Malaysia. I was told that it provides a very good care for its scholars and is also very generous in its sponsors as well as a guaranteed job afterwards. So if you have are eligible to apply, grab ur chance to apply for it straight away! :D

Firstly, when I applied for this scholarship I was already in the 2nd Semester of my studies in IIUM and i used my first semester results for the application . So even if you did not have the chance to apply after SPM or after your foundation/matriculation, you can always just use your first semester result or any latest semester results as stated in the scholarship advertisement.
Better late than never guys. :3

So there are a total of 5 stages (hell that was long process haha) for the 2018 batch of applicants for the Securities Commission Scholarship Award.

(i will include the links once i finished them- might take some time)

First Stage: Online Assessment
Second Stage: Phone Interview
Forth Stage: Interview Session
Fifth Stage: Parents Interview @ Chat Session (ikr, they're very serious about this)

I sent the application on 16th April 2018 (the last day lol) and the result was announced in the 3rd week of Jul. (i told ya it was a long process.. so patience and perseverance is very important).

My overall experience for the process was genuinely amazing, I felt honored to be given the chance and gained so much new things as well as what to be improved in the future. All the stages need preparation (please prepare) and never underestimate anything no matter how small it might look.
I also personally want to thank these amazing people for their writings on Securities Commission Scholarship Interview which undeniably had helped me a lot throughout the stages. You can also check them out for more tips and perspectives :

My advice is that never prepare your application in the last minutes as they are many little things to be done other than filling out the blanks. You'll need to find 2 persons for the recommendation section (i had my high school teacher and lecturer for it, thank u very much Miss Aizar and Prof. Puteri Nemie) :). Basically u just need few of their infos to fill in the blanks, but make sure u have their permissions first hoho ;). You'll also need to upload pdfs of certified copies of few documents, so prepare them early so u have some ample time for the office to do it in case they're busy (i got it on the last day because of some complications, it was so bad i had to run everywhere please don't do it T^T).

Alright, i guess this is all the overview for the scholarship application, please help yourselves with the entries linked above. I hope these will help u in the preparations someway somehow.

Wishing u all the best! :)

Racing against Time..

Hello everyone.

Hope everyone is doing great. I'm kinda sad with my performance of publishing new entries. :3 Everyday, in my head, i always have something to share, but i just couldn't commit myself to sit down in front of the laptop and write them. i actually have few saved drafts which I never had the chance to finish yet.. :(

I hope i can just discipline myself to write at least 30 minutes a week,, yeah had to put lower target because before this I had tried put higher target but it overwhelmed me and i just felt so sucked when i couldn't do it haha.

You have no idea how many stuffs i wish i wrote here hahaha.. Here are some things i wish to write and publish,, and hopefully it will be published.. :3

1. Updates on Law Student Life- Studies, Mooting, etc.

2. Book Reviews- I started to develop real interest in reading books and actually finish reading them like about 2 years ago and i just hope i can share how amazing they are so you can read them toooo!

3. Anime Movie Reviews- This is kinda a new interest and interest of mine--- but i have sooo muchhh to share about them and how some actually affected and inspires me hewhew.. :")

4. Movie Reviews- This one is for all those amazing movies out there that really deserve all the recognition that can give haha! or even for the ones that i think should not even supposed to be released. :3
I actually thought this when i watched 12 Angry Men, Odd Life of Timothy Green, Temple Grandin & Shawshank Redemption where i hope more people actually talk about these movies instead of the mainstream and famous ones (eventhough i enjoy them too). :)

5. Things i enjoy- Painting, Colouring, Piano, Musics, etc.

6. My experiences on certain events that i think can help other people who also face and experience them too -or maybe just to remind myself of the events that i shouldn't forget. :)

7. My opinions on issues that i think i wanna give my opinions even though i don't have to but in my opinion they are just  my opinions. :")

Note to myself:-
Girl, i just hope u actually write them all because some day u might just wanna look back to all these amazing stuffs and remind yourself that u should be thankful for having such a wonderful life despite all the ups and downs u went through.. because i think everyone need something to refresh their minds and keep them moving forward and i hope u always remember yours. :)

Okay so that is all from me today, i actually want to continue writing another entry after this just because i have the mood right now (but not nec. finish them) hehe.

Till next time!  :)
